I was sick and didn’t get to go on the Christmas Open House Tour in Athens last Sunday but I am a good friend of Jason and Rhonda Thomas and they let me have a private tour of their home. I took pictures and wanted to share them with you.
Rhonda is a very talented lady! She is a great decorator and just wait until you see the pictures of the draperies, coverlets, pillows, bed skirts etc. Can you tell how impressed I am with her home?
Miss Anna loves her pink and green bedroom. Rhonda also made the bedding for this room. The next picture is a painting that I did for Anna’s room.

Christmas Open House is November 9th and 10th at Hartlex Antiques and Interiors on Hughes Rd. in Madison, AL. There is something for everyone from hand-painted furniture to fine antiques. I have two booths at Hartlex and specialize in hand-painted vintage furniture.
Vintage dresser hand painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (using the color versaille) and waxed with clear wax. I put the original brass pulls back on without shining them because I like the look of the aged brass.
the look of the old brass.
This 2″ box canvas is painted with a palette knife using acrylics. Of course, Alabama is abundant with cotton fields and old barn’s and I love painting both!

I found this Country French table in Pulaski, TN at an antique shop…sorry, I forgot the name of the shop. It was very light wood and needed painting so I decided on the color french linen which is an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint color. I used the ASCP color old white for the trim and put antique gold on the raised trim. I then waxed with clear and dark wax. Had two oak chairs and did not want to paint them so I put a fabric on the seats that pulled the colors together. I love the hen pattern!
This morning was just about the most beautiful morning I have ever seen. There was a cool breeze blowing across Lake Ida and I served my husband breakfast outside. I decided to make it special so I put a tablecloth and fresh flowers on the table. Needless to say, he was very surprised.
After Ed left for work, I enjoyed walking in the yard. I love living on Lake Ida!
I love roosters and have them as a theme in my kitchen. I had to finally tell friends and relatives that I had enough and please not to give me any more. The last few years, I have removed a lot of my cluckey friends and stored them away but I still gravitate to beautiful rooster paintings and figurines.
When I found this square table, I immediately wanted to paint a rooster on the top. A widespread assortment of paints was used on this piece. First I painted the entire table with Maison Blanche Chalk Paint using the color Spanish Moss. Then I painted a rooster on the top using artist acrylics. The goldish color is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint using the color Aries. Aries is a yellow color but when dark wax is applied it gives a golden color. I used my left over acrylic colors from the rooster for the red on the bottom shelf and also the black and white check border.
When this dried I applied clear wax and then went over the clear with dark wax. After it dried overnight, I buffed for a pretty shine.

Have a cousin that is spending the week-end with me and she is an interior decorator! That will certainly put a fire under you to get things done. Well, I rushed to Publix to pick up some of their pretty flowers to make a couple of fresh flower arrangements to add around to spruce up the interior!
I love to use old silver and had recently found a lovely silver plate covered casserole dish and it even had the glass dish inside which was great for a flower arrangement. I leaned the lid against the bottom…wanted more silver to show!
